Overall the subject in my Lone Bud piece is a bit softer than my normal work. That was a compositional choice as I wanted to utilize the colorful roses in the background without letting them take on shapes. Due to their close proximity to the bud, camera adjustments were required to reduce the background flowers down to just colors thereby creating very nice bokeh. The bud itself and parts of the sepals remain sharp albeit with a significantly reduced depth of field. The high level of detail allows individual hairs on and within the sepals to be seen.
