On my way back to the car at the Aiken County Historical Museum, I noticed a very patriotic display of miniature flags decorating the front of the museum in several areas. I normally inspect the pots that sit on both sides of the entrance for possible subjects while passing by them. The pot on the left side had the scene I used to create my Flag Day piece, and I composed it while kneeling in the driveway. The flag itself is not very big. In fact, you can easily see the stitching used to sew it together. While the focal point is clearly on the flag, I used an angle that pulled as much color from the flowers as possible into the background of the frame. I liked how the combination of flag and flowers created a patriotic nature scene.
